development activities in Aquilaria
sp. (agarwood/gaharu), herbs such as Orthosiphon
stamineus (misai kucing), Pandamus sp.
(pandan leaves) and Cymbopogon sp.
(lemon grass), Ganoderma sp. (‘Lingzhe’ mushroom) and Aerodramus sp. (swiftlet/walit). Walet
Biotechnology Sdn Bhd intends to extract standardized extracts from the herbal
plants, bird nest and ‘Lingzhe’ mushroom which contain active constituents that
have proven health benefits and potential to be developed into value added
healthcare and cosmetic products. Plant analysis will be carried out for the
determination of micro nutrients and trace minerals in laboratory as well as antimicrobial
and antioxidant activities of the extracts. Thus, the potency of the
medicinal plants extract as an antimicrobial and antioxidant agent will be
evaluated for application to the industrial production of healthcare and
wellness products. Walet will also
develop in house micro propagation method for the herbal plants and mushroom.
